The glare of the high-powered studio lights beat down on David’s forehead, but he didn’t care. He leaned forward, his hands resting flat against the sleek wood of the interview table. Behind him, a massive, vibrant digital backdrop shifted between images of towering geological rock layers and ancient Mesopotamian ruins.

Across from him sat the host, a smooth-talking media personality named Marcus, who adjusted his earpiece and looked down at his iPad.

“Alright, David,” Marcus began, his voice dripping with casual skepticism. “We’re diving deep today. But let’s be honest with the audience right off the bat. When most people hear about the Tower of Babel, they think of it in strictly Sunday-school terms. It’s an old legend, right? You’re dealing with legendary material. Is it a myth? The secular consensus is pretty clear: the Bible says it really happened, but historians and archaeologists don’t actually know if a singular structure like that ever existed. Isn’t it just a metaphor for human pride?”

David smiled, a calm, practiced expression of absolute confidence.

“Marcus, we live in a culture that is utterly dominated by a secular worldview,” David said, his voice carrying the firm, rhythmic cadence of a seasoned lecturer. “And let’s be clear: that worldview is not neutral. It assumes from the very start that the Bible is wrong, and it puts its ultimate faith in the ideas of man. We’ve been conditioned by textbooks, television, and universities to believe that the Bible is just a beautifully written book of myths. As a result, our culture has completely rejected biblical history and embraced a fairy tale. And yes, I call it a fairy tale.”

Marcus raised an eyebrow. “A fairy tale? That’s a pretty strong charge to level against modern science.”

“I don’t say it to be snarky,” David replied, shaking his head. “I say it because when you take a step back and look at what the secular narrative actually asks you to believe, it reads exactly like a fairy tale. Think about it. In the evolutionary model, people are taught that around 13.8 billion years ago, everything began when nothing exploded and magically created everything. An explosion of nothingness somehow created the entire universe. Right out of the gate, that idea violates foundational, basic laws of science.”

David began counting on his fingers, leaning closer to his microphone.

“And then, from the absolute chaos of an explosion or a rapid expansion, you’re supposed to believe we got the perfect orderliness of the cosmos—orderly galaxies, precise solar systems, laws of gravity and physics. That violates many other known laws of science as well. But the story keeps going. Somehow, life magically sparks from non-life. That is completely unscientific. Complex, intelligent genetic information somehow arises from inanimate matter—again, totally unscientific.

“And then, the grand finale: natural selection and mutations—which in reality only duplicate, shuffle, or lose pre-existing genetic information—are credited with miraculously adding brand-new, complex genetic coding over time. The narrative asks you to believe that a fish eventually changed into a philosopher. It tells you that we crawled out of the primordial soup, turned into a monkey-like creature, and from that, we finally got modern humans and apes. And from there, humanity supposedly evolved out of Africa to cover the entire earth. That is the fairy tale of evolution, Marcus. All of it is believed by a blind, uncritical faith that breaks the very laws of science it claims to uphold.”

The Attack on the Eyewitness

The studio was dead silent, save for the hum of the cooling fans in the cameras. David let the weight of his words hang in the air before continuing.

“But as this secular view—this fairy tale—became widely accepted in Western culture, biblical history suddenly came under direct attack. The specific account of scripture, where humanity was originally gathered together in one place at Babel and then physically scattered by God, was by and large rejected in favor of the Out-of-Africa evolutionary theory.

“But you see, the story of evolution isn’t based on eyewitness accounts. It’s a historical construct built entirely on uniformitarian assumptions, and it directly contradicts the word of God. Charles Darwin claimed humans evolved from apes in Africa primarily because that’s where we happen to find the highest concentration of apes today. It was a guess. But the Bible tells a very different—and historically true—story.”

David picked up a leather-bound Bible from the table, holding it up as his ultimate exhibit.

“According to scripture, all people alive today came from Noah’s family after the global flood. If we go all the way back to the beginning, God created all things in six literal days and made man in His own image. That is not a problem for an all-powerful, sovereign God. And what that means, dear friends, is that every single human being on this planet can trace their family tree back to one man and one woman: Adam and Eve.

“Do you know what that means for our fractured, racially divided culture? It means there is just one race. The human race. Are we different? Yes! We have beautiful variations in skin tone, eye shape, and culture, all to the creative glory of God. But we are still fundamentally just one single race.

“Then, about 1,600 years after creation, there was a cataclysmic, global flood that completely wrecked this world. That flood laid down the massive rock layers and trillions of fossils we see across every continent today. And those rock layers don’t scream long, slow, gradual processes over millions of years; they scream a rapid, recent, catastrophic formation.

“And then, as Noah’s family got off the ark, God gave them a direct, explicit command: be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. But humanity didn’t want to obey. Instead, they traveled to the plains of Shinar and said, ‘No. Let’s build a city and a tower to make a name for ourselves, so that we’re not scattered.’ They openly, flagrantly defied God. They wanted the focus of existence to be on human achievement, human glory, and human autonomy rather than the Creator.”

David leaned back, his eyes flashing with intensity.

“But Genesis 11 tells us that God came down and confused their language. Imagine the sheer, immediate terror of that moment, Marcus. One day you are standing on the scaffolding, talking with your neighbor, joking about your day, completely understanding one another. And the very next morning, you turn to ask for a tool, and you can’t understand a single word coming out of his mouth. It would be utter, terrifying chaos.

“The project collapsed instantly. And God then scattered the people abroad across the face of the entire earth. This isn’t a myth spun by ancient nomadic herders. This is God’s own eyewitness testimony. And there is no greater historical authority than God in His word. Hebrews 6:13 says that when God made a promise to Abraham, He swore by Himself, because there is no greater authority than God. So when it comes to the ultimate question—did people evolve out of Africa over millions of years, or were we scattered from Babel after a global flood?—we choose to stand with the eyewitness God. Darwin wasn’t there, Marcus. God was.”

The Fuel to the Fire

Marcus leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. “Okay, so you’re arguing for a completely different historical starting point. But what are the real-world consequences of choosing one narrative over the other? Does it actually matter?”

“It matters tremendously,” David said, his voice dropping into a somber, urgent tone. “Because Darwin’s evolutionary view didn’t just reject biblical history and undermine biblical authority—it also introduced incredibly dangerous, destructive ideas about the so-called ‘races’ of mankind.

“If you actually read Darwin’s writings, specifically his book The Descent of Man, he explicitly claimed that there were ‘higher’ and ‘lower’ races. He even went so far as to suggest that the civilized races would inevitably exterminate and replace the savage races over time. And just take a wild guess, Marcus: who do you think Darwin thought were the higher, more civilized races? If you said the wealthy Caucasians of western Europe, you’re exactly right. Because they looked just like him.”

David held up a hand to preempt any misunderstanding.

“Now, let me be perfectly clear: this doesn’t mean that evolution is the sole cause of racism. Racism was around long before Charles Darwin ever stepped onto the HMS Beagle, because racism is ultimately caused by human sin and a fallen heart. But what evolution did do was throw high-octane gasoline onto the fire of racism. It gave wicked men a supposedly scientific justification for their bigotry.

“You see the direct, horrific fruit of this philosophy in the thinking and actions of people like Karl Marx, Margaret Sanger, Adolf Hitler, and many others who viewed human beings through the lens of evolutionary hierarchy. But when we start with scripture, the very word of God, the entire concept of multiple biological races evaporates. We are all just one race. We all go back to Adam and Eve, and we all come through the genetic bottleneck of Noah’s family. We are one big, tightly related human family. That is precisely why the Gospel is for all nations—not just some, but all. That’s why Jesus died for everyone, because from a biological and historical standpoint, we are all blood relatives.”

The Road Map of the Nations

Marcus shifted in his chair, glancing at a graphic appearing on the studio monitor. “Let’s look at the text itself, though. Critics often point out that Genesis chapter 10 lists all these nations with their own languages, but then Genesis chapter 11 opens up by saying the whole earth had one language. Isn’t that a glaring contradiction right in the text?”

“Not at all,” David replied with a dismissive wave of his hand. “That’s a classic misinterpretation that completely ignores ancient literary styles. Genesis 10 does not contradict Genesis 11. What’s actually happening is that Genesis 10 is a panoramic summary of the nations and where their different languages eventually ended up. Genesis 11 then loops back in time to explain exactly how we got those different nations and languages in the first place.

“It’s exactly like reading a modern newspaper article online. The piece will often give you a concise summary of a major event at the very beginning of the article, right under the headline. But then, when the real body of the article starts, the writer goes back in time to tell you where the event occurred, how it took place, and what led up to it. It’s the exact same literary technique here. Genesis 11 is expounding on the root cause of Genesis 10.

“And when you look closely at those genealogies—those long family trees in Genesis 5 and 11 full of ‘so-and-so begat so-and-so’—I know those are the chapters people love to read at night when they’re trying to go to sleep because they think they’re boring. They’ll knock you right out! But in reality, those genealogies are pure historical gold. We can literally trace the lines of Noah’s three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. We see their immediate descendants, and we can watch how the human population split apart into distinct groups as a direct result of what happened at Babel.”

David gestured toward the digital screen behind him, which now displayed a map of the ancient world with migration arrows sprawling outward from Mesopotamia.

“When we look at the names in these genealogies, we can actually get excited, because these aren’t fictional characters. These are the historical founders of the ancient world. They are a road map to the modern nations. This is your history, my history, and world history.

“For example, Japheth’s descendants migrated outward to become many of the European nations, as well as peoples in North Asia and parts of the Middle East. Shem’s line gave rise to a large portion of the Middle East and far eastern nations, including parts of India and the Hebrew people. Ham’s descendants settled heavily in Africa, but also migrated as far east as China, down into the Malay Peninsula, and eventually extended all the way into Melanesia.

“People often ask me for specific examples. Where did the Irish, the Chinese, or the Egyptians come from? Well, let’s look at the geography. Where was Babel? It was in the land of Shinar, which is modern-day Iraq. In the ancient biblical text, the region is associated with Erech, one of the earliest cities, which is actually where the modern name ‘Iraq’ originates.

“Babel was located near ancient Babylon. In fact, secular archaeologists like Dr. Clifford Wilson have noted that the massive, ancient foundations buried under the ruins of modern Babylon could very well be the physical remains of the original Tower of Babel.

“The tower itself almost certainly looked like a ziggurat. The Hebrew word used for tower is migdal, which implies a pyramidal, terraced structure. Over thirty of these massive ziggurats have been discovered excavated in Mesopotamia alone, many of them bearing ancient cuneiform names like ‘The House of the Terrace-Tower of Heaven and Earth.’ So please understand: when the Tower of Babel was built, it wasn’t a primitive attempt to literally build a ladder into outer space; it was a religious and political statement asserting human pride. It was humanity saying, ‘We will make a name for ourselves. We will glorify our own achievements.'”

David leaned forward, pinning Marcus with a sharp gaze.

“If we place the global flood roughly 4,350 years ago, the Tower of Babel occurred roughly 100 to 150 years after that, right before the call of Abraham. And the historical records left behind by ancient cultures match this timeline beautifully.

“The Irish and the Scots, for instance, can trace their royal genealogies back to Magog, the grandson of Noah through Japheth. The traditional Irish line traces from Magog to Baath, down through a historical figure named Farsa, and eventually to Milesius. The Scots share a nearly identical line, tracing through a descendant named King Reachtaid, from whom the name ‘Scots’ is highly likely derived.

“The Germans, the English, and the Scandinavians all share the exact same basic patriarchal lineage. Their lines trace from Japheth to his son Gomer, and then to Ashkenaz. Ashkenaz originally settled his people just south of the Black Sea, then moved to the northern side, and from there, historical records indicate he moved up into central Europe with twenty of his sons. To this day, traditional Jewish literature refers to Germany as Ashkenaz.

“The French, the Portuguese, and the ancient Celts were historically known as the Gauls. Even the Welsh were a Gallic people. A large portion of the Celts in the British Isles intermixed with the Irish and Scots, while other branches of that same family group migrated east into Galatia in Eastern Europe, and as far down as modern-day Turkey.

“The Greeks descend directly from Javan, another grandson of Noah. In fact, in the Hebrew Old Testament, the word translated as ‘Greece’ is literally the word Javan. We see reflections of this people group all over the Mediterranean—Greece, Macedonia, and parts of Asia Minor. Tarshish, located in ancient Spain, was founded by descendants of Javan. They were a massive seafaring people; some historical evidence even suggests they traded as far east as ancient Japan.

“And look at the other lines! The Chinese people trace back to the Sinites, who were descendants of Canaan through the line of Ham. They migrated steadily eastward into the Far East, settling in the land that historians later referred to as the land of Sinim—or China today. The Japanese people were heavily influenced by these same Sinitic migrations as populations expanded and dominated the region.

“The ancient Egyptians are direct descendants of Mizraim, a grandson of Noah through Ham. In the Bible, Egypt is repeatedly called the land of Mizraim. From this same line came the Philistines and the Libyans. The North Africans, like the ancient Moors, came from Phut, another son of Ham who originally settled in Libya and then expanded westward across North Africa.

“And Cush is the ancient biblical name for Ethiopia. The line goes Noah, Ham, then Cush. To this very day, many traditional Ethiopians proudly call themselves Cushites. They settled just below Egypt, and their descendants populated the lower regions of the African continent.

“What about the Russians and the Slavic peoples? They trace back to Magog and Meshech. Magog’s descendants moved up between the Black and Caspian Seas, giving rise to the great Scythian people groups. Meshech moved further north into what is now northern Russia. Interestingly, their linguistic family includes the Finnish groups, the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and even the people of Hungary, who still share a highly unique, linked language family.

“Even the Australian Aborigines, who secular anthropologists claim were isolated for 60,000 years, show fascinating genetic and cultural connections to ancient populations of Cush and Seba, who migrated through India, Southeast Asia, and the Malay Peninsula before finally reaching Australia. Our colleague, geneticist Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson, has published a mountain of incredible peer-reviewed research tracking these exact human mutation rates and migration paths through modern DNA. The science completely aligns with Genesis.”

The Wrecked World

Marcus looked intrigued, tapping his pencil against his desk. “But David, if these timelines are so short—just a few thousand years—how do you explain the dramatic drop-off in human lifespans? The Bible says people lived for hundreds of years before the flood, but right after Babel, lifespans completely plummeted. How is that biologically possible?”

“The answer is twofold,” David explained, gesturing with his hands. “First, the global flood of Noah’s day completely wrecked this world. It didn’t just rain, Marcus; the fountains of the great deep broke open. The entire topography of the planet was violently turned upside down. It fundamentally changed the climate, destroyed the original ecosystem, and devastated the environment. That was real, catastrophic climate change.

“In Genesis 6:13, God told Noah that He was going to destroy both the people and the earth. The post-flood world was a harsh, scarred, radiation-exposed remnant of the original creation. Human beings simply couldn’t survive as long in a thoroughly wrecked environment.

“But the second, and perhaps most major biological issue, is a massive double genetic bottleneck. At the time of the flood, the entire human population was violently reduced down to just eight people. Any existing genetic mutations or weaknesses in their genomes were rapidly amplified and passed on to the immediate post-flood generations.

“Then, just a few generations later, you have the Tower of Babel event. When God confounds the languages, He forces humanity to split into small, isolated, inbreeding population pockets. That creates a second, severe series of genetic bottlenecks. In small, isolated groups, genetic mutations and defects accumulate and spread through the population at an incredibly accelerated rate. This rapid accumulation of genetic load and cellular degradation is the primary biological cause for the dramatic, steep drop-off in human lifespans we see recorded after Babel.”

The Undoing of the Fracture

David leaned forward, his expression shifting from a defensive debater to a passionate evangelist.

“But Marcus, please don’t miss the forest for the trees here. Why is it so important that we look at all these people groups and their ancient origins? Because when we examine where these cultures ended up, their recorded histories, and their geographies, it all perfectly aligns with the literal biblical account—not the secular evolutionary story. Real history and real geography confirm the authority of the Bible again and again.

“Our modern culture has rejected the Bible because it has chosen to trust the fallible words of microscopic human beings over the infallible, eyewitness word of the Creator God. Humans want to rewrite history because, at our core, we want to be our own gods. We don’t want to be accountable to a Maker. But the idea that humans randomly evolved from primates and slowly separated over millions of years in Africa has zero real historical support.

“Look at the ancient traditions of cultures all over the world! They didn’t preserve stories of apemen. The ancient Irish tracked their ancestry directly back to Japheth. The Miao people of southwest China possess an ancient, oral lineage that they recite at weddings and funerals; they trace their family tree all the way back through Noah, and remarkably, all the way back to a first man who was created directly from the dirt. That is an unmistakable historical echo of Adam.

“And look at the architecture! Why do we find massive ziggurats, stepped mounds, and stone pyramids scattered across every single continent on Earth? From Mesopotamia to Egypt, from the jungles of Mesoamerica to the hills of ancient China, humanity built the exact same style of structure. It’s because the original population was altogether at Babel, they all had the same architectural blueprint in their minds, and when they were scattered, they took that technology with them and built their own local versions of the tower. The Bible perfectly explains this global phenomenon.

“Even modern linguistics points to this. Of the thousands of languages spoken across the globe today, the world’s leading language experts agree that they can all be tracked back to roughly 70 original, foundational language families. That number matches the biblical table of nations that dispersed from Babel.”

David slammed his hand down gently on the table for emphasis.

“The Tower of Babel was a real, historical event that perfectly explains the vast array of people groups, cultures, and languages we see in our world today. And if the Bible’s history is true, Marcus, then the Gospel embedded within that history is also absolute truth.

“All of biblical history is ultimately focused on one single person: Jesus Christ. Here at our ministry, we use the ‘Seven C’s of History’ to summarize the grand narrative of scripture: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion—which is the Tower of Babel—Christ, Cross, and Consummation.

“Look at the space between Confusion and Christ. After God scattered the nations from Babel, He chose one specific man, Abraham, out of those scattered peoples. From Abraham’s descendants, He built the nation of Israel. And through that specific nation, He brought forth the Messiah—the Savior who provides eternal salvation for our souls if we repent and place our faith in Him.

“It all goes back to that foundational biblical truth: we all descend from one man, Adam. That’s why we all inherit a sinful nature, and that’s exactly why every single human being on this planet needs saving through the Last Adam, Jesus Christ.

“In a sense, the Tower of Babel was a mild, merciful judgment on man’s sin. Not long before Babel, God had sent a total, global judgment through the flood because human hearts were filled with nothing but evil continually. At Babel, when humanity rebelled again, God didn’t destroy them. Instead, He confused their languages to put a biological brake on their unified evil endeavors, forcing them to scatter and fill the earth as He had commanded. It was a judgment meant for the long-term good of mankind and the ultimate glory of God.

“But this separation—this painful fracture of language and culture—is not going to last forever. Two thousand years ago, God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived a flawless life, died an agonizing death on a Roman cross to pay for our sins, and rose victoriously from the grave, defeating death once and for all.

“And then, in the New Testament book of Acts, at Pentecost, we see a beautiful glimpse of the reversal. The Holy Spirit descended, and suddenly, people from completely different nations and languages could miraculously understand the praises of God in their own native tongues. The languages came back together in Christ.

“And scripture promises that in the new heavens and the new earth, all of us who believe will worship the King of Kings together in perfect unity. Revelation 7:9 tells us: ‘After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.’ They will cry out with one unified voice, worshiping our God in absolute perfection.”

David looked directly into the camera lens, his voice ringing with absolute certainty.

“Friends, do not fall for the mythological fairy tale of history that our secular culture has embraced and is trying so desperately to push on you. Dig into real history. Trust the word of the living God, starting right in Genesis. And more than anything else, put your absolute trust in Jesus Christ, who stepped directly into our human family line to redeem us from our sin.”
