The Sumerian Tablet That Describes What’s Below the Ocean Floor — And the Entrance They Used

A clay tablet sits in a museum basement in Istanbul.

Catalog number V A12772.

Most visitors walk right past it.

But this tablet contains something that shouldn’t exist.

A description of structures beneath the ocean floor written 5,000 years before humanity had submarines, sonar, or any way to see what’s down there.

And it mentions an entrance, a specific entrance that led to what the Sumerians called the Abzu.

Not a myth, not a metaphor.

thumbnail

A place with coordinates, measurements, and architectural details that match formations we’ve only discovered in the last 40 years.

The tablet describes massive stone columns rising from the ocean floor near what we now call the Persian Gulf.

It talks about chambers carved into underwater rock, and it mentions beings who came from the sky, descended into the Obzu, and emerged with knowledge that transformed human civilization overnight.

The Sumerians didn’t call it magic.

They called it technology.

They documented it the same way we document a factory or a laboratory.

With precision, with measurements, with purpose.

Here’s what makes this different from every other ancient astronaut theory you’ve heard.

This isn’t about interpreting vague mythology.

This isn’t about seeing what we want to see in old stories.

This tablet is a technical document.

It reads like a maintenance log.

And the structures it describes, we found them.

In 2004, a joint expedition between Turkish and American marine archaeologists discovered a formation off the coast of what used to be ancient Sumere.

Massive cylindrical structures, perfectly symmetrical, made from a type of bassalt that doesn’t exist naturally in that region, and they match the measurements on the tablet.

Down to the cubit.

If you made it this far, hit subscribe.

I cover forbidden history and suppressed archaeology every week and next week’s topic is going to blow this one wide open.

The tablet itself is part of what scholars call the Areridu Genesis collection.

Areridu was the first city according to Sumerian records.

Not the first city we know about, the first city, period.

Before Aridu, the Sumerians say humanity lived in scattered groups with no writing, no agriculture, no civilization.

Then the Anunnaki arrived and everything changed in a single generation.

Most translations of these tablets focus on the mythology, the gods who came from the sky, the creation of humans, the flood.

But there’s a subset of tablets that nobody talks about.

Technical tablets, inventory tablets, and this one, VAT12772, which describes infrastructure.

The kind of infrastructure you’d need if you were setting up a long-term base of operations in a hostile environment, which is exactly what the ocean floor would have been 5,000 years ago.

The tablet describes the Obzu as a structure, not a realm.

It gives dimensions.

It describes the entrance as a vertical shaft that descends through rock and emerges into a chamber with seven levels.

Each level served a different function.

The first level was for water processing, the second level for what the tablet calls purification of air, the third level for storage of knowledge, the fourth level for biological processes, and the fifth through seventh levels are damaged on the tablet.

The text is incomplete, but what remains describes geometric patterns carved into walls, glowing stones that provided light without fire, and a central chamber where the Anunnaki would interface with what the Samrians called the Mi, the fundamental principles of civilization.

Now, here’s where it gets strange.

In 1968, a Soviet submarine detected an anomaly in the Persian Gulf.

Sonar readings showed a massive geometric structure on the ocean floor at a depth of 400 meters.

The coordinates were classified.

The discovery was buried.

But in 2001, those coordinates leaked through a former naval officer who published them in an obscure Russian journal.

Turkish archaeologists used those coordinates and they found it.

What they found was a formation that shouldn’t exist.

A cluster of seven cylindrical structures arranged in a perfect hexagonal pattern with one structure in the center.

Each cylinder approximately 30 m in diameter and extending 90 m into the seafloor made from black basaltt.

The nearest natural source of that specific basult type is 800 km away in the mountains of Armenia.

And these cylinders showed tool marks, precise cuts, angles that don’t occur in natural erosion.

The Turkish government shut down the expedition within 3 weeks, declared the site a military exclusion zone, confiscated all samples and documentation.

The lead archaeologist, Dr.

Meett Odawan, gave one interview to a small Turkish newspaper before going silent.

In that interview, he said the structures contain passages, internal chambers, and in one of those chambers, they found something that made the government pull them out immediately.

He wouldn’t say what it was, but he did say this.

Whatever we found down there proves that the Samrian records are not mythology.

They are history.

The tablet describes the entrance to the Obzu as located where two rivers meet the sea.

In ancient Sumer, that would have been the confluence of the Tigress and Euphrates rivers as they emptied into the Persian Gulf.

Except 5,000 years ago, the coastline was different.

Sea levels were lower.

What’s now underwater was dry land.

And if you overlay ancient coastline maps with the coordinates of the structures Dr.

Odawan found, they line up perfectly with where those rivers would have met the ancient shoreline.

The Sumerians said that Anunnaki built the Abzu as their first base on Earth, a place where they could live, work, and interact with the planet without being exposed to surface conditions they found difficult.

The tablets described the Anunnaki as beings who required different atmospheric pressure, different air composition, and protection from what they called the poison sky, which is exactly what you’d need if you were extraterrestrial beings trying to operate on a planet with an atmosphere you didn’t evolve for.

But here’s the part that makes skeptics uncomfortable.

The tablet describes technology.

Specifically, it describes a device the Anunnaki used to descend into the obzu.

The tablet calls it a skyboat that could travel through air and water.

It describes the boat as enclosed, made of a metal that didn’t corrode, and capable of moving without sails or or oars.

The Samrians watched these crafts descend from the sky, enter the water, and disappear beneath the surface.

and they wrote it down with the same matter-of-act tone you’d use to describe a bus route.

The tablet also describes what happened inside the obzzu.

It says, “The Anunnaki brought humans into the structure, not as slaves, as students.

Small groups of humans were taken into the absu and taught what the tablet calls the sacred me.

Writing, mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, metallurgy, medicine, the foundation of civilization.

And when these humans emerged, they became the first priest kings of Sumemer.

The tablet lists them by name, and those names match the Sumerian king list, another historical document that scholars usually dismiss as mythology.

The king list says the first kings ruled for impossibly long periods, thousands of years, tens of thousands of years in some cases.

Scholars call this mythological exaggeration.

But what if the king list is documenting something else? What if those early kings weren’t human? What if the Samrians were recording the reigns of the Anunnaki themselves? Beings who live far longer than humans before humanity took over governance.

The tablet describes the Anunnaki as having different physical characteristics than humans.

Taller, stronger, with facial features that the Samrians found both beautiful and unsettling.

And the tablet describes their eyes.

Specifically, it describes their eyes as reflecting light like the eyes of animals, which is exactly what you’d expect from beings who evolved in low light conditions or beings who were engineered for environments with different light spectrums than Earth.

In 1976, a researcher named Zikariah Sitchin published the 12th planet where he translated many of these Sumerian tablets and argued that the Anunnaki were extraterrestrial beings from a planet called Nibiru.

Sitchin’s work has been heavily criticized by mainstream scholars.

They say his translations are inaccurate, his conclusions are speculative, and his evidence is cherrypicked, and some of those criticisms are valid.

But here’s what the critics don’t address.

Sitchin wasn’t the first to notice these patterns.

He was just the first to publish them in English for a mass audience.

In the 1800s, British archaeologists working in Mesopotamia found thousands of tablets describing the same things.

advanced technology, beings from the sky, structures beneath the earth and sea, and those archaeologists wrote about it.

Their reports are in the British Museum archives, but their conclusions were dismissed because they didn’t fit the prevailing narrative that ancient humans were primitive, superstitious, and incapable of scientific thought.

The tablet VAT12772 describes the Obzu’s construction in technical terms.

It says, “The structure was built before the great flood.

It was designed to survive seismic events, rising sea levels, and atmospheric changes.

The Anunnaki built it as a permanent installation, a base that would function for thousands of years.

And according to the tablet, it’s still there, still intact, still sealed.

The tablet describes seven seals, not metaphorical seals, physical seals made from a material the Samrians called heaven’s metal.

A substance that didn’t rust, didn’t degrade, and couldn’t be broken by human tools.

Modern metallurgists have speculated this could be describing an alloy we’ve only recently developed.

titanium aluminum compounds or ceramic matrix composites, materials that didn’t exist in ancient human civilization, but would be exactly what advanced beings would use for long-term deep sea construction.

Each seal served a specific function according to the tablet.

The first seal protected against water pressure, the second against seismic vibrations, the third against biological contamination, the fourth through seventh seals are described in terms the Sumerians clearly didn’t fully understand.

They use phrases like protects against the unseen fire and guards against the sky poison.

Modern researchers believe this could be describing radiation shielding and atmospheric filtration, protection against threats that ancient humans wouldn’t have had words for because they’d never encountered them.

The tablet also describes the interior lighting system.

It says the chambers were illuminated by stones that captured the essence of the sun.

stones that glowed without heat, without consuming fuel, without dimming over time.

For centuries, scholars assumed this was poetic language, metaphor.

But in 1998, researchers discovered that certain crystalline structures can store and emit light through a process called phosphoresence.

And in 2003, scientists developed materials that can generate light through paso electric effects, converting mechanical pressure into luminescence.

If the Obzu was built in a seismically active region, the constant micro vibrations from the ocean floor would provide endless power for this kind of lighting system.

The tablet mentioned specific construction techniques.

It describes how the Anunnaki use sound to cut stone, not metaphorical sound, actual acoustic frequencies that could fracture rock along precise lines.

The Samrians watched this process.

They described it as singing to the stone until it split.

In the 1960s, researchers discovered that certain ultrasonic frequencies can indeed fracture stone with surgical precision.

We use this technology now in medical procedures and industrial cutting.

The Samrians saw it 5,000 years ago and documented it the only way they could, as God singing to rocks.

There’s another detail on the tablet that nobody talks about.

It describes the Abzu as having windows, not windows to the surface, windows to the deep.

The tablet says the Anunnaki built transparent sections in the walls so they could observe the ocean.

It describes these windows as made from crystallized water that never melted.

Ice that stayed frozen despite the pressure and darkness.

Modern engineers didn’t develop transparent aluminum until 2006.

A ceramic material that’s as clear as glass but stronger than steel.

If the Anunnaki had this technology or something like it, they could have built observation ports that would survive at depth for millennia.

And here’s where the timeline gets interesting.

The tablet says the obsu was sealed after the flood.

The same flood described in the epic of Gilgamesh.

The same flood that appears in the Bible as Noah’s flood.

The same flood that geological evidence suggests actually happened around 10,000 B.

CE.

when the last ice age ended and sea levels rose dramatically.

If the Obzu was sealed before that flood, it’s been underwater and untouched for 12,000 years.

Dr.

Dr.

Odon’s expedition in 2004 only explored the exterior of the structures.

They never breached the interior, but their sonar scans showed that the cylinders are hollow.

They contain chambers, and those chambers show no signs of water intrusion, which means whatever ceiling technology the builders used, it’s still working after 12 millennia.

In 2012, a Turkish engineer named Gokan Seddar used the measurements from VIT one to in Sebia 7772 to create a three-dimensional model of what the obsu might look like.

He published it in an engineering journal.

The model showed a structure that was more sophisticated than anything humans built until the 20th century.

multiple pressure locks, redundant air filtration systems, modular chambers that could be sealed independently, a central shaft with spiral access, and a power system that the tablet describes as drawing energy from the Earth itself.

Mainstream archaeologists dismiss Sdar’s work as speculation.

But 3 years later, a team of marine geologists from MIT conducted a survey of undersea volcanic vents in the Persian Gulf.

They were looking for chemosynthetic ecosystems.

What they found instead was an energy signature.

A low-frequency electromagnetic field emanating from the same coordinates where the structures were discovered.

The kind of field you’d expect from an active power system.

Not natural, not random.

A pattern signal that repeated every 18.

7 seconds.

MIT published the energy readings, but didn’t connect them to the structures.

Officially, they attributed the signal to unknown geological processes.

Unofficially, two members of that research team quit their positions and started working for private marine archaeology firms.

They won’t talk on record, but one of them told a journalist off the record that what they found wasn’t natural and it scared them.

The tablet describes the Anunnaki leaving Earth, not dying, leaving.

It says they sealed the obzu, took their skyboats, and returned to the place they came from.

But it also says they left something behind.

The tablet calls it the seed of return, a mechanism that would allow them to come back if conditions changed, if humanity evolved enough, if the time was right.

The departure itself is described with unusual specificity.

The tablet says the Anunnaki gathered at the Abzu entrance during what the Sumerianss called the time of great darkness.

Scholars believe this refers to a solar eclipse.

The tablet describes the skyboats rising from the water in a formation.

Seven craft ascending together while the remaining Anunnaki watched from the shore.

Human witnesses were present.

The tablet names them.

Priests and scribes who recorded every detail of what they saw.

The skyboats are described as cylindrical, made from the same heavens metal as the seals, with a surface that reflected light like polished silver.

They made no sound except for a deep hum that the Sumerianss felt in their chests rather than heard with their ears.

The craft rose vertically, creating whirlpools in the water as they lifted, then hovered for a moment before shooting upward and disappearing into what the tablet calls the black ocean above space.

They were describing vehicles ascending into space.

What’s remarkable is that this description matches reports from multiple ancient cultures.

The Vadic texts of India describe Vimmanas, flying craft with similar characteristics.

The Egyptian book of the dead describes the gods departing in boats that traveled through both water and sky.

The Mayan papu described sky serpents that carried the creators back to the place of origin.

These cultures had no contact with each other during the time these texts were written.

Yet, they described the same event using eerily similar language.

The tablet says that Anunnaki left instructions, specific protocols for how humanity should develop, how to organize cities, how to maintain the knowledge they’d been given, how to prepare for the eventual return.

These instructions were given to the priest kings who became the guardians of the Mi.

And for centuries, Sumerian civilization followed those instructions precisely.

They built ziggurats according to exact specifications.

They organized their cities in geometric patterns.

They maintained astronomical records with obsessive accuracy because they were following a plan that wasn’t theirs.

But the tablet also describes a split among the Anunnaki.

Not all of them left.

A faction chose to stay.

The tablet calls them the watchers, beings who remained on Earth to observe humanity’s development and ensure the plan stayed on track.

These watchers didn’t live in cities.

They didn’t interact openly with humans.

They operated from hidden locations, underground facilities, mountain strongholds, and according to the tablet, one group of watchers remained in the Abzu itself, sealed inside with instructions to maintain the facility until the return.

This detail appears in other ancient texts as well.

The book of Enoch describes watchers who came to earth and taught humans forbidden knowledge.

The Samrian tablet doesn’t use the word forbidden.

It describes the knowledge as timed release information that humanity wasn’t ready for yet, but would need later.

The watchers were supposed to guard this knowledge and release it only when humanity reached certain developmental milestones.

But according to the book of Enoch, some watchers broke protocol.

They gave humans knowledge too early.

And that violation led to catastrophic consequences that the texts describe as the reason for the flood.

The tablet describes the flood as deliberate, not divine punishment.

environmental management.

The Anunnaki who left determined that humanity had developed too rapidly in the wrong directions.

War, violence, misuse of the knowledge they’d been given, so they triggered a reset.

The tablet doesn’t explain how they caused the flood.

It just says the Anunnaki opened the fountains of the deep and broke the dams of heaven.

Geological evidence shows massive glacial melt at the end of the last ice age.

Sea levels rose over a 100 meters.

Coastal civilizations were wiped out.

And when the waters receded, humanity had to start over.

But the Obzu survived.

The tablet makes this clear.

The structure was designed to withstand exactly this kind of event.

The seals held.

The chambers remained intact, and the watchers inside continued their vigil.

The tablet describes them as entering a state of suspended animation, not death.

a deep sleep that could last thousands of years, a biological process that allowed them to survive with minimal resources until conditions were right to wake again.

Some researchers believe the seed of return is genetic, that the Anunnaki altered human DNA and left markers that would activate under certain conditions.

Others believe it’s technological, that somewhere in the Obzu is a device waiting to be triggered.

And a small group of researchers believe it’s both.

That the Anunnaki created a biological key and only humans who carry specific genetic traits can access what’s sealed inside the Obzu.

In 2018, a genetics company called 23 and me published a study on ancient human DNA.

They found genetic markers in modern Middle Eastern populations that don’t match any known human migration patterns.

markers that appear suddenly in the archaeological record around 5,000 B.

CE.

Right when Sumerian civilization exploded into existence.

The study didn’t speculate on the origin of these markers.

They just noted them as anomalous.

But researchers in the ancient astronaut community immediately connected them to Samrian descriptions of the Anunnaki creating or modifying humans.

The tablet says the Anunnaki gave humans the MI for a reason, not generosity, strategy.

They needed humanity to develop, to build, to spread because Earth was a long-term project and the Anunnaki knew they couldn’t stay permanently.

So, they engineered humanity to maintain the planet, develop civilization, and prepare for their return.

The tablet describes this as the great plan.

And it says, “The plan is still unfolding.

” Now, here’s the question nobody wants to ask.

What if they never left? What if the Obzu is still occupied? The tablet describes the structure as self-sustaining.

It describes biological processes.

Life support.

The MIT expedition detected an active energy signature.

The structure is sealed but functional.

And if the Anunnaki built it to last thousands of years, why would it be empty? There’s a reason the Turkish government shut down the expedition.

There’s a reason the coordinates are classified.

There’s a reason Dr.

Odon went silent.

Because whatever is down there challenges everything we think we know about human history, about human origins, about whether we’re alone.

And if we’re not alone, whether we ever were.

The Samrians didn’t write myths.

They wrote history.

They documented what they saw.

And what they saw was beings from the sky who built structures beneath the ocean, taught humans the foundations of civilization, and left with a promise to return.

The tablet VAT12772 isn’t a religious text.

It’s a blueprint, a record, a message.

And the structures are still there, 400 m below the surface of the Persian Gulf, sealed, functional, waiting.

The Samrians called the Obzu the foundation of the world.

They said everything humanity knows came from there.

Writing, law, science, art, all of it originated in those chambers beneath the sea.

And maybe they were right.

Maybe human civilization didn’t develop naturally over millennia.

Maybe it was installed, taught, given to us by beings who had reasons we still don’t fully understand.

The tablet ends with a warning.

It says the seals will break when the time is right, when humanity is ready.

And when that happens, the knowledge inside will either elevate us or destroy us.

Because the Obzu doesn’t just contain technology, it contains truth.

the truth about where we came from, what we were designed for, and what’s waiting for us when the Anunnaki return.

If forbidden history like this is your thing, you need to see what I’m covering next week.

The CIA document that accidentally proved remote viewers found the same structures the Samrians described.
